Basel International Print Residency took place at the Druckwerk print studio in the Warteck building, Basel, Switzerland in July 2015. 14 printmakers from USA, Switzerland, Denmark and Norway had just 8 days to complete new works for an exhibition held at Kaskantorkondensator gallery in the same building. On the first day we used the gallery space with the help of a performance artist to come up with the theme for the exhibition and then used the remaining time to print often late into the night. The theme of the residency was UNBEMERKT (Unnoticed) and I took this literally and printed 100 postcards with the words ‘an UNNOTICED thing’ on them using letterpress letters. 55 of these were then placed along the bank of the River Rhine after swimming the length that is permissible to swim in the centre of Basel. I also made an editioned book – Souviner from River Rhine Basel, that documented this swim in the style of a book found at the local flea market.
